You’ve invested in a beautiful new bathroom and it’s getting a lot of use! How can you ensure that your glass shower always looks beautiful? Glass shower walls and doors can get stained over time when water and soap scum accumulate. A good routine to try is to wipe the glass doors with a squeegee immediately after you use the shower. It doesn’t have to be a thorough cleaning, but this will minimize the build-up of grime or soap.
The first step to remedy this is to assemble your cleaning supplies: a small, light squeegee, sponge or microfibre cloths, glass cleaner (chemical), or other cleaners such as white vinegar, baking soda, dishwashing soap, lemons, rubbing alcohol, or bio-clean hard water solutions.
Mix your cleaner of choice in a spray bottle. You can either choose to use natural remedies like vinegar or eco-friendly hard water lotions, or you may decide to use chemical cleaners.
Spray or wipe the cleaning solution on a section of the shower glass. Use a clean sponge or cloth to remove any grime or scum. Always remember to clean both the inside and outside of the door. For corners, you may need to thoroughly spray the cleaner and leave it to sit for 15-30 minutes.
Next, wash the glass with warm water and make sure the water reaches all the corners. You might also wipe with the sponge or cloth to remove any product. Next, use either a cloth or squeegee to dry the glass shower door. When you are cleaning, always remember to also clean the door handles, showerheads, taps, and the drain. Cleaning your shower on a weekly basis decreases the need for deep cleaning.
